Overview Co-open is a first-person adventure game set inside a local co-op grocery store. It was developed by lowpolis, and released for PC, Mac, and Linux on June 13, 2021. Story Co-open takes place in a world of diverse anthropomorphic characters. It follows a young child named Boop (this name can be changed by the player at the beginning of the game), who is going on a shopping trip alone for the first time. The game begins with Boop walking to the store with their grandmother Mila, who tells Boop stories from her childhood, and preps Boop for their first solo shopping experience before dropping them off at the store. The game is completed by choosing items from the store shelves and bringing them to the checkout, thus completing the shopping trip. There are no requirements for which items must be purchased, so the player is free to choose any of the store's items to complete the trip. Each shelf has a price tag on it for the products that give a brief description of the item. The store, and the connected areas, that can be explored contain various NPCs, each with their own dialogue. Dialogue is presented in text bubbles, that display the character's name and pronouns. There are two forms of collectibles in the game. The first are items that are given out for completing objectives for some of the various NPCs throughout the game. The second are phone numbers, which can be obtain from the game's NPCs, or found in the environment. These phone numbers can then be dialed to call people from a phone in the game's store for additional dialogue.
