beatmania IIDX 5th style is one of the many titles in Konami's IIDX rhythm game series, featuring more than 60 tracks, primarily from the arcade version of the same title. As usual for the beatmania series, the player is given seven piano keys and a turntable, and must play along with the notes that scroll down the screen to play the music. There are three main modes: Arcade mode tasks the player with completing several tracks in succession, Free mode lets the player freely play any unlocked song, and Practice mode lets the player practice parts of songs without danger of failure. New in this edition are two additional training modes. Beginner's Mode offers extra-easy 7-key versions of each track, simpler than even the Light-7 versions available since 3rd style. Drill mode offers a selection of specific challenges designed to help players improve their performance. Unique to this release is the ability to install game data to a PS2 hard drive to decrease loading times.
