Chu-Teng is the sequel to Eastern Mind: The Lost Souls of Tong Nou, and takes place shortly after the conclusion of that game. Teng is a plane of existence that is similar to heaven or the Buddhist concept of deva loka. When its outer part, Ge-Teng, is invaded by clouds of darkness, the being known as Nanshu is the only one who can stop them. However, the clouds defeat Nanshu by breaking his head into bits. In order to find his missing pieces and reform, Nanshu calls on the aid of Rin from the original game to come to Teng's core, Chu-Teng, and find all the lost parts. The same exploration and inventory-based gameplay of Eastern Mind is kept in this game, albeit without that game's reincarnation mechanic. Rin will explore the Shrines of the Moon, Sun, and Stars and interact with the characters therein to complete his quest.
