Dig Dug II

Dig Dug II is a 1985 arcade action video game developed and released by Namco in Japan on March 12, 1985. Dig Dug II is the sequel to the 1982 arcade video game, Dig Dug. The player controls Taizo Hori (he was known as Dig Dug when the game was released) from the previous game and must wipe out the enemies on the island. A level is cleared when all of the enemies are defeated. The biggest difference is that the game is an overhead view on an island, and requires Taizo to destroy the island and defeat the enemies (rather than digging underground). Because of this, Taizo cannot use rocks to defeat enemies. Taizo has two weapons in this game, a jackhammer and his air pump. The pump can be used to inflate the enemies until they pop, while the jackhammer can be drilled into faults. When the faults connect to the edge or any other faults, the entire section on the island will crumble into the water. Taizo can clear large amounts of enemies this way, but he can fall into the water as well. The Pooka and Fygar enemies return and the Fygars can still shoot fire out of their mouths at Taizo. The player loses a life if he collides with it. The enemies can phase through the fault lines to get to another area (mostly where the player is).
