The Hobbit is an illustrated text adventure game developed by Beam Software and published by Melbourne House in 1982. Based on the fantasy novel by J. R. R. Tolkien, the game follows Bilbo Baggins on his journey with Gandalf and a company of dwarves to reclaim the treasure guarded by the dragon Smaug. It features an advanced natural language parser called Inglish, allowing players to interact with characters and objects using complex commands. The game was originally released for the ZX Spectrum and later ported to several other home computers.
