Mortal Kombat Arcade Enhanced Edition is a fan-made hack of the 1993 Sega Genesis / Mega Drive port of Mortal Kombat. It is built on Mortal Kombat Arcade Edition, an earlier hack by Master Linkuei, and it continues that hack's goal: bringing the Genesis version as close as possible to the original Midway arcade game. The Arcade Edition base (Master Linkuei, 2021) added over 80 arcade voice and sound samples, remade every biography and ending screen from the arcade art, redrew most of Probe Software's graphics, and added new stage animations: the monks and Shang Tsung clapping in the Courtyard, flames in the Palace Gates and the Warriors Shrine, and Shang Tsung in the Throne Room. It also has a playable Reptile, a hidden Ermac fight, a training mode, a Winning Streak list saved to SRAM, and tighter gameplay timing. The Enhanced Edition builds on that with: - Fighter names in the lifebar and a HUD layout closer to the arcade - A flashing and zooming "FIGHT!" / "FINISH HIM!" / "FINISH HER!", as on the Sega CD - A pause button on 6-button controllers, plus support for third-party 6-button pads - A white, blinking "PUSH START" in the arcade's square font - Cleaned and recoloured sprites for every fighter, and improved character selection art, Battle Plan avatars and ending screens - The Throne Room dragon statues restored, and the Warriors Shrine moon moved up to its arcade position - Performance improvements, a SRAM fix so the game boots on PicoDrive, and many bug fixes, some from the original cartridge and some from the base hack Credits: Rael G.C.
