Pokémon PureRGB (PureRed, PureGreen, and PureBlue) is a purist enhancement of the original Generation I Pokémon games built from the pokered disassembly project. Rather than adding later-generation Pokémon, mechanics, or features, PureRGB focuses on refining the original experience by improving Pokémon availability, balancing stats and movesets, expanding move variety, fixing long-standing bugs, and making all 151 Pokémon obtainable in every version. The hack preserves the spirit of Red, Green, and Blue while improving replayability through quality-of-life enhancements, optional gameplay tweaks, updated sprites, and numerous hidden secrets to discover. Beyond its balance improvements, PureRGB introduces substantial optional content and customization. Players can explore the new Cinnabar Volcano area, create custom Poké Balls with unique audiovisual effects, rematch Gym Leaders after becoming Champion, unlock expanded Pokédex modes, and uncover new postgame secrets. The hack also includes Game Boy Color support, multiple selectable color palettes, optional enhanced graphics and music, configurable battle mechanics, accessibility improvements, and quality-of-life additions such as removable HMs, earlier access to key Pokémon and fossils, and new travel conveniences. The result is a version of Generation I that feels authentic to the originals while offering a deeper, more polished, and highly customizable adventure.
