Nightmare for the living. Prepare to escape death in a heart-stopping experience that will chill you to your core. A new era of survival horror is coming. Technological advancements combined with the development team's depth of experience combine in a story with rich characters and gameplay that's more immersive than ever before. Return once again to the city of disaster and despair. A midwestern city in the United States and the headquarters for the former global pharmaceutical company, Umbrella. In the face of the zombie outbreak in 1998, the government approved a sterilization operation, a missile strike on the city in an attempt to quickly bring the situation under control—but this was swiftly covered up. Experience the series' classic survival horror through combat, investigations, puzzles, and resource management. Gameplay allows you to freely switch between first and third-person views to face the horrors in a way that suits your playstyle. Resident Evil Requiem is a single-player survival horror game where players can switch between first-person or third-person perspectives at any time. First-person perspective is the default for Requiem which offers "tense, realistic gameplay" according to Capcom while third-person is "ideal for people who enjoy action-packed gameplay". The player assumes the role of FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft who is pursued by a monster throughout the game, similar to Mr. X and Lady Dimitrescu of previous Resident Evil games. To avoid detection by this monster, the player can crouch and sneak to make less noise and hide under objects like tables. However, the monster can also stalk the player through walls and ceilings. The player can distract the monster by collecting and throwing glass bottles found throughout the environment. The player has access to a lighter to illuminate dark areas, though this light will also attract the attention of the monster. FBI technical analyst Grace Ashcroft is dispatched to investigate a series of strange deaths at the Wrenwood Hotel, where her mother Alyssa died 8 years prior. The story is set in Raccoon City, about 30 years after its destruction in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. Capcom has described Grace as an introverted bookworm who feels powerless due to not being proficient in combat like other Resident Evil protagonists such as Leon S. Kennedy or Jill Valentine.
