Brookwood: Pocket Tactics is a new Game Boy Color strategy game developed by Jared Chansen of Werebear Games and published by Bitmap Soft. Inspired by Redwall, WarCraft, and the tactics genre, the game is set in an Islamic-inspired fantasy world inhabited by medieval animal factions. Players can command one of four groups: the Khalifa of Rodents, the Sultanate of Cats, the Eashir of Birds, or the Hashd’n of Lizards. The story unfolds in a harsh world transformed by a volcanic eruption that brought warmth, resources, and magical crystals known as World Hearts. This prosperity eventually fractured the harmony among tribes, leading to factional conflict. When the Eashir of Birds harnessed the power of a World Heart, they disrupted the balance, prompting the Rodents and Cats to ally and exile them. Though peace has held for years, it now hangs by a thread as political tensions resurface, threatening renewed war.
