Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 is a computer game developed and published by Electronic Arts . The game belongs to the Need for Speed series and was released in 2002 for the GameCube , PlayStation 2 , Xbox and Microsoft Windows . The game is a racing game where the player can choose between completing a course as quickly as possible or staying out of the hands of the police. It is possible to choose different cars, such as: Ferrari F50 , Porsche 911 , Ford , Corvette , BMW Z8 , Lotus , Mercedes , Aston Martin V12 Vanquish and the McLaren F1 . With this game, EA Black Box contributed to the Need for Speed series for the first time. The game lacks options that were present in previous parts, such as a split screen for two-person races, a dashboard camera angle and replays that could be saved. LAN multiplayer options have been replaced by an EA.com linking system on the Internet. The game was the first Need For Speed with commercial music, and no longer in-house composed music as in the previous parts.
