After Burner is a 1987 arcade video game developed by Sega R&D1 and released by Sega in Japan on July 13, 1987. The player controls an F-14 Tomcat jet fighter. The jet employs a machine gun and a limited number of heat-seeking missiles. The aircraft, cannon, and missile buttons are all controlled from an integrated flight stick. The objective is to complete 18 stages, all while gunning down and firing missiles at enemy jet fighters and evading incoming fire. After beating a few stages, an ally aircraft will arrive to replenish your missiles.
