WRC Powerslide is an arcade spin-off from the WRC rally simulation series by the same developer. It carries the official license for the cars, drivers, and courses, and focuses entirely on an arcade rally experience with multiple cars on the track simultaneously, bumping into each other, a damage model with only visual effects, and power-ups. The game consists of eight competitions unlocked gradually. They are set in France, Italy, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Mexico, Monaco, and Portugal. Each competition has nine races based on three tracks, for the rally classes WRC, Class 2, and Class 3. By racing well medals are unlocked that open up new courses and new cars along with the crew. Each car has different statistics based on car acceleration, braking, max speed, and performance. Racing is done with an automatic transmission along with a regular brake and a handbrake. Cars can get damaged while racing, but only visually and when turned over they get back on their wheels. If a car gets out of bounds, it respawns. Next to hindering other opponents and bumping into them, power-ups appear on the track as yellow signs. Picking up a power-up provides a random ability. Cars are able to unleash a hailstorm to slow down all opponents, hit a competitor with a bolt of lightning, leaving behind a blinding smoke cloud, receive a nitro boost, or use the horn to launch a shockwave that stops all competitors. The final power-up increases the car's top speed, knocks competitors off the track when bumping into them, and provides a shield that nullifies all incoming attacks. There are no unusual obstacles on the track. There are three difficulty levels and optionally the power-up and collision system can be turned off. In that case, you drive through competitors as if they are ghosts. The best times are stored on a global leaderboard. The game supports online multiplayer games for up to four racers. For the online mode, the number of races won and lost is tracked, along with a global ranking and experience system.
